Only the old ones!
First generation of NASCAR drivers: Smugglers
Now look at my brother he is a phone seller and is saving money for a simulator and being on some online touraments
asdwegfwes.... anyways formula video + listening to the music I like (Delta Parole, Metallica and other) make me feel the speed and excitement!
Wasn't Adrian Sutil or Timo Glock a bricklayer?
How has no F1 driver become a drifter? I mean like Formula 1 to Formula Drift...
Slim Borgudd: First drumming, then F1. Lando 2021: the other way round :-)
9:32 - "Results are the name of the game". I see what you did there. LOL
Wow. Banking. Crazy career.
1:16 It’s pronounced Ed-nim not Ed-nam
bet nobody who works in that bank knows that one of their colleague is actually a F1 driver
Did not expect to see my step dad at number one 😄
Timo Glock - scaffolder. Finished his apprenticeship exam as the best in the State of Hesse that year
missed opportunity... Murray Walker, THE voice of formula 1. A Tank commander during WW2, Captain Graeme Murray Walker. He then followed his fathers footsteps as a motorcycle racer. And of course entered broadcasting to which the rest is history.
Sir Nigel looks incredibly like Sir Algernon Lee Guiness
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Hi mate, you were going too quick into that corner. Here’s a ticket. Mansell? Maybe...
Medicine go brrr - Dr. Jonathan Palmer.
Kimi was a motivational speaker before he became an F1 driver.
ABBA's drummer, Slim Borgudd, was also an F1 driver? --> insert cheesy line from an ABBA song here. How did I not know this? Is it common knowledge and I'm just out of the loop? Is it not a well known fact? OR Does nobody care?
Them guys are great drivers
I miss Kamui Kobayashi. He was great! ... Drift King of F1
I miss Kamui Kobayashi. He was great! ... Drift King of F1
Kvyat: Former Russian ICBM Missile
I am pre f1 career
Wait a second, Grosjean left F1 at the end of 2020?! I mean I don’t blame him for retiring after he escaped from the Bahrain fireball but to casually drop that into the narration..
I can't picture Grosean working in a bank with that hair 😂
"the Dentist" sounds like a serial killer
worst f1 'commentator', i can imagine her reading this from her lame ipod. She is lame and lacks any personality. No driver seems to like or respect her.
Jonathan Palmer has done more for motorsport in the UK than probably anybody else ever has, and has received little to no recognition for it. If you’ve ever been to an MSV track (Oulton, Brands, Cadwell, Snetterton) you’ll know they are some of the best tracks in the country. All this and he’s saved lives as a doctor, If anyone deserves a knighthood it’s him.
Maybe it's not that clear from the video, but coachbuilding was such a business in the Farina family that Giuseppe's uncle founded Pininfarina
Sebastian Bourdais pre F1 career: 4 Champ Car World Series Champion
Mansell: "Excuse me sir, my moustache would like to have a word with you."
And what's your story, _Rosanna Tennant?_ ;-)
Haha cool
Wow
Grosjean really left f1 with a bang
What about Kimis military career?
Kobayashi deserved more in Formula One
Kevin Magnussen?
Fangio was just a mechanic in his natal Balcarce.
When the Speaker reads the Birth City of Heinz Harald Frenzen...
I always imagine that Clair Williams is doing the voiceover
Going from farmer to f1 racer. Havest at 10 km/u to racing at 300km/h wow
Jim Clark is still the most gifted driver, the feel he had and his calmness in torrential conditions....Go watch any of his onboard cameras, when tracks like Spa had no rumble strips and Jim hits the apex 1mm from the grass bank!
Fascinating
5:40 what track is this
Is that Rosanna Tennant commentating these?
forgot Valtteri Bottas
So it’s pronounced AYERTON not ARTON?
I don’t remember Borgudd as a driver, but I definitely remember the ABBA name on the car when I was a kid.
Why does the narrator pronounce Ayrton as "Ayarton"? First time I heard it said that way. It's like saying Arton or Erton, right?
any1 know the song/ instramental????
After becominf F1 champ in 92, Mansell won US Indycar championship in 93, briefly holding both titles at the same time. Well done Nige.
- 'Hey Doc, I'm about to deliver my baby!' - 'Well, I'm in the middle of the race!'
I miss Jaime Alguersuari.
Greatest Japanese driver also a comedian. Being replaced by Gutierrez was quite a joke.
Can you imagine Kobi-crashy telling jokes... Would be interesting to see a video.
Those ABBA puns hurt me.
I always though Jim Clark was a former soldier.
Awesome
Soooo, we're just going to ignore the fact that Farina was a soldier for an army led by a fascist? 🤣
Plot twist Roman stole money from the bank
Denny Hulme gets a lot of face time in this.
Well regular people, not like now, sons of...
I don't think there is one entry on this list where I look and then think "Wait, WHAT?" and thats just the ones I know now. Can't wait to see the crazy paths that the others had prior to Formula 1. Also: wow, don't even reconize Romain Grojean being clean shaven and with all that hair. Wouldn't look out of place in the 70s.
Heinz Harald’s life was so scary.. imagine being a mortician.
In a morbid way, its very ironic that being an F1 driver is what he ended up going after working for a funeral Home.
That Lotus was a Fast car
Okay I'll work for a bank and find a way to robbe it then spend the money on F1 career. SmArT
Imagine eating bread that Jim Clark harvested for
Love the use of stock photos, just in case we didn't understand what some of the professions involved...
Imagine being max verstappen's driving instructor (he was in F1 before even having his regular driving license)
Damon Hill was a motorcycle dispatch rider before turning to cars
Rumor has it Dave Chappelle is racing for McLaren next year.
"Took a chance on him"... See what you did there👀
I have never heard Kamui is stand up comedian. Although, he was born Amagasaki city as one of funniest city in Japan.
Max Verstappen: Child
"Enforcing speed limits on the Isle of man".......ilse of man has no speed limits
Not outside town, but there are speedlimits in the towns and those are strictly enforced
Keke Rosberg worked at some gas station in Finland... Well Keke fuelled my grandpa's motorcycle once
Heinz-Harald
Tony Brooks: Qualifying at 14.00, root canal treatment at 17.00
NGL, I appreciate Romain G a lot more now. Working hard to make it in modern F1 rather than relying on sponsorships or family with deep pockets
What about Timo "Gerüstebauer" Glock?
Formula One's idea of a 'crazy' career: Farmer.
farmers are different breed brah
How about another early F1 driver, Johnny Claes? He is first, a member of a Jazz band, playing the trumpet. The he later led his own band, named "Clay Pigeons". In fact, his first contact with motorsport is when he served as an interpreter for the British drivers at the 1947 French GP!
Title: Pre-F1 Careers Video: F1 careers highlights
Lance Stroll: Billionaire's son
Romain should have stayed at the bank. He could have done even more damage.
I learned so much in this video. I had no idea they had dentists in the UK 😁
Wow, Kamui Comedian
Nigel Mansell is a true legend. He sold everything he had to get some races. He also won Indycar in 1993 in his debut year winning in his debut race and holding F1+Indycar titles at the time. Plus the guy raced LeMans 24h with a small team with his sons Greg and Leo in 2010 and he bought a Karting Track (i pressume where he started racing).
I got to high five him after he qualified on pole (just edging out Paul Tracy) at the 1993 Long Beach Grand Prix when he raced in CART.
Just came for some interesting facts but got talked down to by the voice over lady
Am i the only one who saw Walter White in the thumbnail?
Frentzen aka “The undertaker”
Because it is freaking crazy expensive to break it in any racing scene, but one also has to have that enthusiasm as well to keep pursuing that given it's such a perilous career.
What about Niki and his Airline gig?
Awesome content. Thank you F1 media team!
5:53 fella in the background looks like a very unimpressed knock-off Mr Bean
Kamui's former occupation was comedian? I doubt it's true. Just he wanted to be.
Kamui just wanted to become a stand-up comedian lol His local star “Down Town (Duo comedian)” is still popular in Japan!!
