Our knowledge of the brain is evolving at a breathtaking pace, and Dr. Lara Boyd is positioned at the cutting edge of these discoveries. In 2006, she was recruited by the University of British Columbia to become the Canada Research Chair in Neurobiology and Motor Learning. Since that time she has established the Brain Behaviour Lab, recruited and trained over 40 graduate students, published more than 80 papers and been awarded over $5 million in funding.
Dr. Boyd’s efforts are leading to the development of novel, and more effective, therapeutics for individuals with brain damage, but they are also shedding light on broader applications. By learning new concepts, taking advantage of opportunities, and participating in new activities, you are physically changing who you are, and opening up a world of endless possibility.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

  • HOW I CURED MYSELF FROM HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS! Who will believe that the herb can cure herpes? I never thought this would work, I have spent a lot on getting meds at the hospital to stay healthy, I reached a point where all I was waiting for was death because I was broke, one day I found out about this cool man named DR. MOHAMMED, which is well known for curing cancer, diabetes, HIV, fibroids, hepatitis B, HSV, HPV, and herpes. I decided to contact him, I didn't believe him too much, I just wanted to give him a try, he answered my email and needed information about me, then I sent it to him, he made an herbal medicine and sent it to me. Via DHL for delivery, he gave my information to the DHL office, they told me that in 3-4 days I will receive the package and after receiving it I took the medicine as prescribed by him, after finishing the medicine he told me, I went to the hospital for a check-up, and I went, surprisingly after the test the doctor confirmed me negative for the herpes simplex virus, I thought it was a joke, I went to another hospital and it was also negative, thanks for saving my life. , I promise you that I will always testify to your good work. If you are a patient with the herpes simplex virus, contact him and I assure you that you will be absolutely cured. (EMAIL; herbalcure12@gmail.com) You can call him or add him on WhatsApp .. They did not cast me aside and turn me into a farmhand. I had to work 4X harder at learning; One thing mom and dad made sure is I sat down and learn to write, read, and walking again. Their belief is "IFF you do not try, you shall not use your injuries as an excuse for failure." In reading if the word was not enunciate correctly, I had to redo it over and over. If I misspelled a word, I had to write it in a sentence 10-15 X's. My gramps made a leather harness for me so I would not fall...did not start school until I was seven. Before, I was allowed off the harness, I had to be able to balance a book on my head while I walked. Consequently when, I did marry and had three sons, I was like the Eagle and made sure they were careful with their 'noggins'...Brain. Today, you would be appalled at how people are treated with "invisible TBI". They believed that "repetition was the mother/father of all learning"

I have no idea how to read music, I have no idea what notes Im playing. I just know how to get the sound Im going for. I just know where to put my fingers on the strings to get that sound. Btw, fun fact, heavy metal and classical music is very closely related. However.... Im no good at doing math in my head or trying to walk and chew gum at the same time. • No. The brain cortex both stores long term memory and implies perception and thinking by the dopamin-function. By blocking blood nutrition and a chemical precurser noradrenalin from passing to axons, the dopamin-hypothesis is no good and rejected as indication of any drug. But the fraud of ATCH was placed in the scientific literature, so we can understand human biochemistry wrong. The clue lead to a nordrenalin-hypothesis of a pituitary hormon, that cannot be ATCH - listed as fraud in the US Library of medicine, and replaced with noradrenalin, which by removing one oxygen atom in axons, precurses only dopamin irreversibly as an ongoing cyclic system, where the only neurotransmitter is washed out during sleep and this also helped with adrenalin, that opens the blood curcuit, and meaning, floated dopamin is the reason all animals sleep and need that. The hypothalamus presurses pituitary hormons with other blood precursers by forming at least serotonin. But cortisol causes damages to the brain. Hippocampus enables the brain of making an emotional and natural reaction to cortex activity and memory, (which carries both memory and illusion, that evolves both slow and fast as a spiritual content). Emotions that last, are damaged with the long term stress hormon cortisom, causing PTSD-type suffering at any age, as damage to hippocampus, that senses, but chronical diagnostics don't hold. Psychiatriatry will be able to prove, that psychosis can be recovered and treated better with sulphurbased molecules, that have less neurodegenerative quailties than 2. generation antipsychotics, and the noradrenalin-hypothesis can be proved by clinical drug withdrawal for safety reasons. Don't spoil the people.

I thought at first that he looked like one of my friends to a slight degree, but quickly I felt inspiration jumped to my mind. He is Christ, I realize and know that all or the majority will not believe I understand , the importance here of what has happened is still dazzle and an ultimate truth to me which print in my mind can not forget it ever. using google as assistance to translate most Arabic to English **Christ looks write in youtube this title (St. Faustina and the Image of Divine Mercy)almost the same similarity or very close to his features, difference between the beard and head hair is a little darker compared to this and head hair not so long lay on the top of his shoulder and the beard not as it looks like this, not triangle in front, since 2001 until now I see drawings of creatures human-like and animals in running, as well as events and predictions in form of writing or images writing Arabic /English these all appear in my house ceiling /walls as well as appearance of luminous object about meter long in form cylinder or cigar It surprised and baffled me Paradoxically to nature of physics materials with closed room plus seeing people in a place where actually they are in other place at same time .using google as assistant to translate most Arabic to Englishظاهرة عجيبة كتبتها بمواقع كثيرة لو كنت بشك.

  • Don’t listen clowns in the comments saying “I’ll save you 15 minutes, practice makes perfect” etc; It’s ONLY 15 minutes of your life, for free knowledge. BUT if you watched this and still quite didn’t get the essence of what she was talking about: it’s totally ok, it was a lot of information for this little time. I’ll give you below quick notes from this TED Talk and my personal insights, this should show you that it’s not just trivial “practice makes perfect”. But take your own conclusions too. NOTES How do we learn and why some of us learn things more easily than others? What we know about the brain is changing really fast over the years and a lot of these informations turns out to be not true, or not compete. SOME MISCONCEPTIONS: * We used to think that after childhood the brain couldn’t change * That we use only parts of it, or that it is silent when we are doing nothing. (that’s not true, because even when you’re at rest/“thinking of nothing” your brain is highly active) And so this thinking is really limiting our potential and is often used to make excuses. Also it’s important here to distinguish and reflect about “doing nothing” - consciously (for example in the state of meditation) which contributes to a positive changes in areas of the brain, and to “doing nothing” unconsciously which can lead to a various negative effects like overthinking, anxiety, depression, etc. Your brain can change on 3 basic WAYS TO SUPPORT LEARNING: 1. Chemical 2. By altering its structure. 3. Altering its function. 1. CHEMICAL: brain function by transferring chemical signals between brain cells (neurons) and this triggers a series of actions and reactions, ⬇️ to support learning, your brain can increase the amount of the concentrations of these chemical signalling that’s taking place between neurons, ⬇️ this change very rapidly and supports short-term memory, of the short-term improvement in the performance of a motor skill. 2. BY ALTERING ITS STRUCTURE: During learning, the brain can change the connections between neurons. ➡️ The physical structure of the brain is actually changing so this takes a bit more time. ➡️ These types of changes are related to long-term memory, the long-term improvement in a motor skill. EXAMPLE: We’ve all tried to learn a new motor skill; maybe how to ride, playing the piano, draw, sing, you name it... You’ve had the experience of getting better and better within a single session of practice and thinking “I have got it.” And then, maybe you returned the next day and all those improvements from the day before are lost. What happened? In the short-term, your brain was able to increase the chemical signalling between your neurons. But for some reasons, those changes did not induce the structural changes that are necessary to support long-term memory. So, You need to remember, that long-term memories take time(depends from person to person). And what you see in the short term does not reflect learning. It is these physical changes that are now going to support long-term memories and chemical changes that support short-term memories. ➡️To really learn something new you first need to prepare yourself for learning. For example: - prepare your body and mind (e.g. clean diet, clean environment, brain food, exercise, meditation, sleep, etc) - find out your best way of learning for yourself (basically “learn how to learn”), schedule your time; take care of your time management. - Cut negative self-talk, - Stress management, etc. ➡️Understand the process of remembering and be patient with yourself. Short-term does not reflect learning, but understanding and repeating this action lead to long-term memories. ➡️I personally think that passion, curiosity, the mere desire to learn any topic are crucial in learning (you can also learn to develop these skills). Do the research, start from now. Contemplate: “How can I find balance between learning and pleasure?” (“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”) EXAMPLES(of structural changes): * People who read Braille have larger hand sensory areas in their brain than those of us who don’t. * Your dominant hand motor region, which is on the left side of your brain (if you are right handed) is larger than the other side. * Research shows the taxi cab drivers who actually have to memorise a map to get their taxi cab licence have larger brain regions devoted to spatial, or mapping memories. 3. ALTERING ITS FUNCTION. As you use a brain region it becomes more and more excitable and easy to use again. And as your brain has these areas that increase their excitability the brain shifts how and when they are activated. Whole networks of brain activity are shifting and changing. LESSONS AND SUMMARY: * You have to do the work: the primary driver of change in your brain is your behaviour, so there is no neuroplasticity drug you can take. Nothing is more effective than practice at helping you learn. * Increased difficulty, increased struggle during practice, actually leads to both more learning and greater structural change in the brain. * Neuroplasticity can work both ways: - It can be positive, you learn something new, and you refine a motor skill. - And negative, you forgot something you once knew, you become addicted to drugs, maybe you have chronic pain, etc. * There’s no recipe for learning. For some of us, it’s going to take a lot more practice, and for others it may take far less. The shaping of our plastic brains is far too unique for there to be any single intervention that’s going to work for all of us. * Study how and what you learn best. * Repeat those behaviours that are healthy for your brain, and break those behaviours and habits that are not. * Everything you do, everything you encounter, and everything you experience is changing your brain; And that can be for better, but it can also be for worse. RELATED QUOTES: “The future depends on what you do today.” Mahatma Gandhi “The most important thing about art is to work. Nothing else matters except sitting down every day and trying”- Steven Pressfield “Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Saint Francis “So go out and build the brain you want.”

  • Its a fantastic lecture educate you to learn about your brain, but the below examples are added it will fascinate the audiences. The whole story of brain staff is related to behaviors and morals. Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him said rather, I was sent to complete the honors of morals. First, we must differentiate between knowledge, knowing and moral education, how to discover and control bad habits in the self, and we have the best model of good morals which is represented in honesty, truthfulness, good tenth among the family Friends, co-workers, and most importantly, complete control over the unloved desires of the soul that lead to the selfishness. In short, however you like yourself to be behaved by others, you should apply it to others, and whatever bad things you don't like to face from others, don't wish it for other too. Mirror is the best example to discover our bad things in our selves and control them.

  • This was great, I have been researching "what drugs help with concentration?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Siydolonar Subjective Superiority - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is an awesome exclusive product for learning how to focus your mind and become awesome without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my work buddy got great results with it.

  • Actually trading was not easy for me. Lost a lot of money through + 500, FBS also lost a lot of money to trading assistants and copy trader's, almost gave up on forex / Bitcoin trading. but a friend of mine introduced me to a good broker, at first i thought it was another way of wasting my hard earned savings. But my greatest surprise was my investment of $ 3,000 came out with $ 6,580 in 10 days trading ..... You just have to be patient with them till your trades are completed ..... To be honest I didn't just recovered all my previous losses .. I made much more than my past expenses .. actually she charges 15% which won't affect you in any way since her trading efficiency comes in multiples of investment ... I personally recommend Mrs Caroline trading services for best copy trading always trade with them and stop loosing your money .... reach out to her and believe me a trial will convince you Here's her contact details⬇️⬇️⬇️ +19282916039 @WhatsApp

  • Few months ago, i invested about $36,000 into this binary option platform with the aim of diversifying my trading portfolio. However, with my strict habits of growing my account 300% before taking profits, i never attempted any withdrawals, not until two months ago when i tried to withdraw but all effort was in vain. I called the accòunt manager and explained the situation, he told me i would be able to withdraw after 4 working days which sounded shady to be very honest. 4days went by, still no withdrawals, i tried reaching out to the manager and customer service line but non of them were reachable till this moment. I shared my experience with my colleague at work, he introduced me to an International Recovery Firm Who helped recovered all my lost investment back, they also helped me with their masterclass strategies which helped me to win trades and avoiding loses, making me Earn more and avoid loses, these people saved me and I had my claims after 6working days. Their professionalism was top notch. (kateanderson8277@gmail.com) via WhatsApp +1-(510-948-2501).

  • Then why are you not developing brain excercises that help to bypass areas of the brain that is damaged before the damage happens. You can take a cat scan of individuals before the stroke so that you can have a template to work with in future. You should be able to work around the damaged area and create new connections.
